He Will Deliver Us Again! – Ark Channel 10/09/2022 Sat 2 Co 1
Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. (v9)
* Misfortunes can be a blessing in disguise. Years have passed. Our life may be running aground. Even so God’s comfort may abound more. The sky may be overcast with dark clouds. Even so God’s Spirit is teaching us not to rely on ourselves, but on the Lord who makes us alive!

Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. (v13)
* Are you facing many trials? Then opportunities are abound! Paul stayed in Ephesus, where people came and went, but he toiled with tears for three years, speaking only about God’s will, giving himself to others, and through the Holy Spirit established the Church in Ephesus. Rather than moan, why not charge ahead!

Moody said, “You can believe in yourself, but you’ll ultimately be disappointed; you can believe in your friends, but they will die, and may leave you; but if you believe in God, you will never be confused, whether in this life or in eternity!”

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. (v32)
* To ‘edify’ means to build up, to give a deeper understanding of the faith and a deeper experience. All gifts are to be measured by the edification of the whole church. 1 Cor 14 mentions ‘edify’ six times, which is worth considering – are we using our talents for God’s work to satisfy our own sense of success?

For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. (v33)
* Two rules for congregational meetings: the preacher must be a man of God and not a man of his own counsel (v.26). Everything is for the edification of the people, so all may learn and be exhorted (v26, 31).

Everyone in the church is given different kinds of gifts, all ingenious talents! How do they build up the Body of Christ? Gifts are for building up the Body of Christ, rather than standing above others! Edify people, edify the church – this is God’s purpose!

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…? (v19)
* We have been “bought by God at a price” (v. 20). Since then, we should orient our words and deeds to glorify God. We are “bought at a price” — how costly the redemption is! We were once enslaved to sins. Now we are ransomed to be the bondservants of God. Our life should be spent to glorify God!

Now I have swelling and leaky legs. Appetite is not good. Frequent urination. My eyesight is getting worse. I feel tired and need to sleep often. But I am satisfied if I can stay on like the present. (Note: Sister Chiu is 99. She loves God and has a passion to share the gospel. She is a long-time reader of the Ark Channel. * Holy God, we know we have sinned and ultimately sinned against You. There maybe people watching or listening to this message at this very moment who have never approached You with a repentant heart, who have never embraced Jesus to be the answer for their sin. I pray that by Thy Holy Spirit, You would draw such people to Yourself and help them to know how much You love them regardless how much they have sinned. What You have done is to save them from their sin and to give them a repentant heart so that through faith they can come before Christ and become Your children. We thank You for all that You have done in our lives. We ask this in the mighty name of our Savior Jesus, Amen.

Everything you do, do it from love! – Ark Channel 09/09/2021 Thu 1
…and send them with your gift to Jerusalem (v.3)
* The Church in Corinth saw four main weaknesses: strife, sexual immorality, disputes, and fornication (Ch. 1-6). They had six arguments: marriage vs. singlehood, freedom vs. eating sacrificed foods, head coverings and breaking of bread, use of gifts, and questions about the resurrection. (Ch. 7-15a). Is there hope in this circumstance? But God reminds us to stand firm, act based on love, to not forget God’s love, that His grace remains with us, and that He will return (Ch. 16)

1. In using our gifts and talent, we must work together with mutual respect. To focus people’s attention to Jesus and His will.

After I leave you, I pray that you will forget my shortcomings. If there are any advantages you can learn from, please follow these as examples.
